We were in no rush today, just a leisurely drive up the coast on Highway 1 from San Simeon to Carmel. Stopping off to enjoy the scenery and the wildlife. 

We reached Carmel in the evening. Carmel is a small village close to Monterey 

There are no street lights and the roads do not names and pavements are all cobbled. There are no restaurant chains or high street shops.

It is illegal to wear heels higher than 2 inches! But don’t worry girls, you can ask for a permit to wear them free of charge at the city hall.

I may have forgotten to tell you that Clint Eastwood was mayor of Carmel for one term between 1986 and 1988.
